Summary

The National Patient Safety Agency and the Medical Protection Society host a joint conference on delivering safe patient care in the out-of-hours and unscheduled primary care environment.

Many changes have taken place over recent years with the way healthcare is delivered out-of-hours (OOH). These changes represent a huge challenge to providers of OOH and unscheduled primary care, in ensuring that the quality of service provided and patient safety is not compromised.

This conference is aimed at all those involved in delivering unscheduled primary care and presents an unparalleled opportunity for delegates to:

  • Identify and share areas of emerging risk and best practice
  • Take home practical tools to improve the safety of OOH and unscheduled care that can be utilised in everyday work
  • Identify and address the role that systems errors and human factors play in patient safety

The conference will use a combination of plenary sessions and workshops to give delegates the opportunity to hear from experts, share their own experiences and identify risk management interventions for the future of safe OOH care.
